a week from instagram.

hey, there.. i know.. i haven't been posting much lately. i actually think it bothers me more than anyone else. here's the deal: i had this really great post all worked up for back-to-school looks, but a position at my school newspaper magically appeared. as a fashion blogger.. (right!?!?) so i decided to submit that post to my editor. and until i know whether i got the position or not, i can't post it here.

if it turns out that i did get it, i'll leave a link to the post!

moving forward, here are my photos from instagram this week.

1. lonely road alone | 2. my new glasses finally came in | 3. i found a friendly butterfly | 4. sweet miss lyla is my favorite | 5. those fields should have had corn :( | 6. the view tonight from my dorm room window

inspiration, xi.

this has been a super busy week, so my inspiration images haven't been one of my top priorities. so.. i only have two.

both of these images seem to accurately convey the feelings i've had in my recent situation, and i like that about them. usually when i'm choosing inspiration images, many things jump out at me and i gravitate towards anything beautiful or a little twisted. however, this week i somehow just chose these two - and they're perfect.

also, here's my latest youtube video:

next week i'll have a post on back to school outfits that i've been working on for a while now! until then, feel free to check me out on my other social media sites that are always listed below!

college life.

right now, i'm sitting in my x-long twin bed (which is super comfy, by the way) and watching 10 Things I Hate About You with my lovely roommate. overall.. life is good.

let me give you an outline of the moving in and scheduling i've been going through lately (prepare for a a lot of reading.. if you stay interested, that is):

friday, august 10:
i spent the day packing all of my shit into my grandmother's van, and figuring out what clothing to bring.. that was a nightmare.

saturday, august 11:
move-in day.
i woke up in the morning and showered. after i got ready, i decided to go to our local cafe (and my place of employment for the last two years) for a sort of going-away breakfast with my baby sister. once i got back home, i finished up my packing into my car, and headed to college!

actually moving everything into my dorm was a nightmare, honestly. my roommate moved in on friday, so all of her things were already in the room, but i had to wait for a little cart to come around to our vehicles to pick up my belongings. once we got past that point, i had to organized everything and figure out how on EARTH to fit all of it into a tiny space.

here are a few phone photos of my dorm room:
sink/jewelry/food storage

my (messy at the moment) desk w/ rockie nolan prints hanging above it

my closet w/ my bubba gump chalkboard (haha) and our fridge/microwave area, and our window!

my wall decal beside my bed (our beds are bunked, btw, mine's on the bottom!)
this is just an idiotic photo of my comforter design

after the room was finished, my family took me out for a last meal together, and then they left. i was forced to attend a freshman get-together called "playfair." while it wasn't terrible, loverboy and i decided to leave because my roommate was finished with band practice, and we wanted to spend some time with her.

we ended the night watching the sasquatch gang, cuddling, and giggling.

sunday, august 12:
part of being a freshman in the dorms involves being expected to participate in a lot of pointless orientation sessions. however, there wasn't much scheduled for this day, so i skipped it.

instead, my boy and i had a one tree hill marathon and tried to make all of my random electronics work. none of which seem to want to cooperate at this point. we also tried out the cafeteria for the first time today, and it wasn't terrible! #score

monday, august 13:
to start off the day.. i basically did nothing.  i went to the bookstore and finished up my book shopping (which was terribly difficult with the involvement of financial aid that hadn't yet been awarded, btw).

i ate breakfast and lunch.. and then i went to a training session for my school's newspaper, called the bulletin. i am employed in a photographer's position, in case you were wondering. training lasted.. far longer than i sort of expected. i had planned on going to the fall general assembly at 2PM, and i thought that since training started at 1PM, it'd work out. i was terribly wrong on that account. i didn't leave training until almost 4PM, but i'm not complaining. all of the stupid freshman orientation shit the college wants us to go to is super boring for the most part.

however, i did decide to attend a seminar called "social excellence" with my floor on monday evening. the speaker was a man named josh from phired up productions (or something like that). he talked about how to get to know people in college, especially as a freshman, and how the skills he was talking about would translate for different situations for the rest of our lives.. and you know? he had a point. now, he went about this seminar in a way that made it really quite hilarious and enjoyable for most of us. i walked out at the end of the evening with a smile on my face, so i think it was great!

tuesday, august 14:
tuesday was.. difficult. my dad called me early in the morning to tell me he was coming to town, and if i needed anything, he would grab it for me. i was excited for that, because i had been desperately wanting my bike at college! (thanks, daddy!)

the difficult part was that he was coming so that he could give me some bad news in person. i'm definitely not going into detail here, but it was highly personal devastating news for me, and for my entire family. i know that what we talked about that day, we will still be struggling with years into the future. luckily, this situation has seemed to bring me and my dad a lot closer, even though i feel like we're not entirely on the same page about it yet. i know that i can fully trust him with anything in my life, and that feeling has stemmed from this problem.

after we had our discussion (i'm trying to lighten it up again, here), we went out to eat mexican food, which is my favorite ever. soon after we got back to my dorm, he had to leave and i had a meeting to set up my contract with the bulletin. once again, i hadn't allotted as much time as it took for that meeting, so i wasn't able to attend the part time job fair or the classroom tours.

when i got back from my meeting, i called down my roommate/friend and my boyfriend and i spent a lot of time explaining what my dad had told me, and crying about it. i am truly so thankful that i have wonderful people in my life, especially now, when everything is changing for me. when i calmed down, ashley had to go back to band, but my love was kind enough to show me around to all of the buildings where my classes would be held.

i spent the night sulking in my dorm room and getting aggravated with the idiots that never shut up in the lobby.

wednesday, august 15:
first day of classes! i was a little nervous, since i didn't really know what to expect, but overall, i was confident. i just kept telling myself, "jordan, you are a smart girl. you're a great student, and you will be fine." and you know what? i was right.

as far as my schedule goes, wednesday is the most packed day of the week. i have four classes every wednesday, and most other days i only have two, so starting out on a wednesday was perhaps a little bit tougher than if it were a thursday or something, but it was fine!

my first class was a history class at 9AM.. on the fourth floor. and this hall has some steep steps. i really liked my professor.. he's super loud. that's kind of how i like history teachers to be, though: fully engaged in the subject. if not, i lose interest easily.

the next class is for freshman only, and it's designed to help transition from high school student to college.. and even though i don't really think i need this class, i do think it'll be fun. we had to sit in a room without a teacher and find an envelope, then follow the directions inside. it was all about teamwork, and though that sounds cheesy, it was fun!

next was theatre appreciation, and i'll tell you right now: i don't think i'm going to like this class much. i thought it would be a perfect fit because, well, i do.. appreciate theatre. i love going to productions and obviously i'm into the fashion side of all of it, but reading about it? eh. i don't really think it's my thing.

and then i went to lunch.

at 1PM i had my first calculus 1 class.  i was nervous because we had a pretest, and i was right to be. i bombed it. however, my professor assured me that if i knew the material and i had just forgotten it, then as we reviewed, i would pick it right back up, and i really think he's right. calc is a 5 hour class, so i'm in the classroom every day of the week, and i'm honestly looking forward to it! i love math.. what can i say?

that evening ashley and i went to a bar for some training.. who knew i would be a cocktail waitress?

thursday, august 16:
on thursdays i only have two classes: intro to sociology and calculus. intro to sociology was first, at 9:30AM, and my professor is.. talkative. he seems like the kind of guy that wants everyone to be engaged, but also knows that it's a large class, so he just sort of talks to himself a lot? whatever, i have to be in there for an hour and a half, so he can ramble all he wants. i just hope he gets the main points across.

normally on thursdays, calc is two hours long instead of one hour. therefore, i went to class an hour early, only to find out that while i was freaking out about the pretest the day before, i hadn't heard the prof say that we would meet at normal time today. so, i walked back to my dorm only to leave again forty five minutes later.

after classes, my love and i took my bike to a shop downtown to fix my tire, and then we got a few school supplies for him. my friend mary also ended up coming to the dorm just in time to watch tv with us.. and then leave. :( she's supposed to come up on saturday, though, so hopefully that will be better.
___________________________________________________________________

and now it's friday and i'm waiting on my friends to go eat lunch with. on a side note: the people on my floor are annoying. i already have homework, so last night i was trying to do it, and they were blaring the RUGRATS movie in the lobby. granted, i love rugrats! however, i can't concentrate on functions if i can hear chuckie and angelica in the backround, damn it.

this has easily been the longest blog post i've ever written/published, but i hope it wasn't boring.. my next one will be shorter and normal!
