rachel roy inspiration.

to kick off new york fashion week, i'd like to share a bit of an article from [vogue] about everything we have to look forward to this month. what touched me the most was rachel roy's launching of a new clutch for a wonderful cause.

photos and an excerpt from the [article]:

“Pursue what you are good at, and use that passion to make a difference,” said Rachel Roy. The designer recently launched a limited-edition clutch inspired by Ghanaian Kente cloth to raise money for OrphanAid Africa, an organization that raises money to help place children in Ghana in safe, permanent homes.

with the words, "kindness is always fashionable," rachel further shows that the fashion community is always stepping up to help causes they believe in.

this girl is thoroughly looking forward to fashion week!

nordstrom favorites pt. 3, february 2012.

this is the last installment of my "favorites" posts from [Nordstrom]! there are ten items in this post.. a majority of which are shoes. i'm a shoe addict, what can i say?

part one: [here]
part two: [here]

1) BETSEY JOHNSON Maybill Boot ($169.95)
these boots.. are perfect. i love everything, everything, everything about them! that beautiful taupe upper portion with a bit of a distressed look, the yellow/lime piping, and those chunky platforms? yum! also, i wasn't too into the whole "rugged" sole look when i first saw it, but on this pair, i think it fits perfectly!

2) TOD'S Ankle Strap Sandal ($665)
okay, i guess i don't have much to say about this shoe, except i would definitely wear it. i suppose by now you can tell that i love a chunky heel, and a bit of a platform.. stability and height is what i'm after! this girl needs a few extra inches! i love the strap, and the lovely burnt orange color.. <3

3) PIERRE BALMAIN Reversible Jacket ($980)
i'm not sure whether i love this actual jacket, or if i just love the boxy, boyfriend-ish cut, and the fact that it's patterned. however, if i owned this jacket and it made me look like the model.. i'd be happy!

4) DIOR MISS DIOR Leather Bootie ($900)
smooth, sleek, classic, beautiful, wearable, amazing.

end of story.

5) JEFFREY CAMPBELL Dauphine Flat ($149.95)
i've never actually considered jeffrey campbell for his flats, but i love this one! it's gorgeous, right? studs and bows and ballet pink.. my childhood dream all mixed into a beautiful flat! i'm in love.

6) RAY-BAN Classic Wayfarer Sunglasses ($160)
okay, okay, it might be dumb to lust over a pair of sunglasses.. but these are lovely. i know everyone has knockoffs, including me, but these gorgeous indigo ray-bans make my mouth water. that's all.

7) SAM EDELMAN Lyla Pump ($149.95)
gorgeous simple nude pump, perfect for spring. i'm all over dressing for spring right now. the weather's got me all excited and shop-happy! just a beautiful shoe.

8) STEVE MADDEN Dynemite Sandal ($99.95)
salmon-colored wonderful.
i want these.
now.

9) TORY BURCH Alarice V-Neck Sweater ($250)
i love when a nice sweater has different patterns on the torso and sleeves. i fall for it every time. i've also been really into navy and white lately, making this tory burch piece easy for me to love.

10) TOMS Classic Crochet Slip-On ($57.95)
i know they're trendy and cliche, but i am smitten with these crocheted toms. they may be my next shoe purchase, if i can't get my hands on those steve madden beauties from above!

i hope you've liked my "favorites" from nordstrom! there will be more posts like this..
eventually.
but first, i'll be updating with my ny fashion week thoughts and obsessions.

nordstrom favorites pt. 2, february 2012.

this is the second part of the nordstrom "favorites" posts, view part one [here].

1) OSCAR DE LA RENTA Floral Fil Coupe Dress ($2490)
i know that this photo doesn't show much attention to detail, but i assure you, the designer has. this simple, beautifully tailored dress is the perfect piece for any occasion, as you could dress it up or down. this girl, however, would always dress it up.

2) RACHEL ZOE Sullivan Leather Jacket ($825)
rz does some awesome things with outerwear, i think all of her's is glorious. this is actually my favorite jacket of them all, however, because of the simple decadence it possesses. lightweight, perfect shade for spring, would be gorgeous layered in the colder months. yummy.

3) GUCCI Andie Chunky Platform Sandal ($895)
i've been dying over shades of blue and aquamarine lately, and this shoe has everything i love. if it had a bit more of a platform, i'd be selling my soul to own a pair.

4) RACHEL ROY Square Neck Sheath Dress ($445)
this just seems regal and elegant to me. i could see kate middleton wearing it with some amazing hat, walking along a duck pond in europe somewhere.. okay, maybe that's a fantasy, but it is lovely. rachel roy really knows how a woman's body works, and she always produces flattering cuts for all body shapes. RR = goddess.

5) BADGLEY MISCHKA Bow Bangle Watch ($195)
this lovely little watch is a tiny slice of heaven on a wrist.
rose gold + white = perfection.

6) STEVE MADDEN Troopa Boot ($99.95)
i.. am slowly realizing how much range i have in fashion taste. looking at this somewhat rugged-looking boot in comparison to the beautiful pieces i've chosen before it makes me want to giggle. what else, however, could you expect from a 17-year old dreamer? war stories have to exist alongside fairytales, you know.

7) BURBERRY PRORSUM Knit Pencil Skirt ($995)
like i mentioned earlier, blue has been getting to me lately. this skirt is exactly what i look for when i want a nice pencil skirt: a fabric that hugs my hips, that perfect-right-at-the-knee length, and a color that says, "wow!" it just so happens that burberry makes it.

8) KATE SPADE NEW YORK Tolinder Contrast Trim Lady Trench Coat ($698)
every woman should own a trench coat. this one is about the perfect length for my short frame, so it won't overwhelm me. this, along with the beautiful trim, is why i've chosen it to show you here. and i highly suggest that everyone check out kate spade's accessories, because they're to die for.

9) SAM EDELMAN Scarlett Pump ($199.95)
this is the perfect mix of shine, sugar, spice, everything nice, and a little touch of naughty. the t-strap is sweet, the gold is classy. the heel and spikes are just the right amount of "umph" to push this shoe over the edge. love it!

nordstrom favorites pt. 1, february 2012.

this is my second time doing a "favorites" post, and this time it is for nordstrom! while i never actually go into a nordstrom (haha), i do spend a lot of my time drooling over their lovely clothing. so let's jump in to part one of the three part series!

1) ALDO Detamble Sandal ($89.95)
i know that this is just a simple t-strap heel, but i.. don't have any! i feel like every woman should own a perfect pair, and it's about time i get one.

2) BCBG MAXAZRIA Pleated Colorblock Stripe Skirt ($178)
once again, i am a flouncy little skirt wearing lady! i love the stripes and hues on this skirt, the contrast of the neutrals and brights are making me want to siiiiing! love, love, love.

3) BRAHMIN Croc Embossed Laptop Case ($295)
i recently purchased a macbook, and i think that a laptop case like this is suuuper chic and would be perfect for my adorable little white mac. love that it has short and long straps, for different options, i just kind of wish that front zipper would disappear.

4) CHLOE Eden Small Leather Crossbody Bag ($860)
if i had all of the money in the world.. i would only carry chloe bags. every single one is perfect, but i loved the gorgeous peach hue this one has.

5) ELIZABETH AND JAMES Sue Worsted Wool Blazer ($445)
three words: tailored. red. military.

enough said.

6) JASON WU Taffeta Scuba Dress ($2,300)
okay.. jason wu is like a god. wait. go back and remove the word "like."

he does the most perfect dresses ever. i'm not a huge fan of his separates, but his dresses.. aaaaahhh. lovely.

7) JEFFREY CAMPBELL Lita Bootie ($159.95)
there are like twenty versions of this boot, all of which are gorgeous. i chose this one, because i like a bit of color on my feet, more than i like print. also.. platforms are always going to be in style for short girls. don't listen to anyone who says otherwise.

8) LANVIN Sleeveless Diamond Print Satin Dress ($1,650)
this piece is completely void of flaws. honestly, i would look terrible in it, because of my body type, but i commend those who can pull it off and do! the detail work that has obviously been put into this is astonishingly beautiful. *sigh*

9) MARC BY MARC JACOBS Textured Triple-Pocket Cardigan ($198)
remember how i said that jason wu is a god? well.. he's got to share that deity status with marc jacobs. perhaps this cardigan isn't proof enough.. i smell a complete marc post later. louis vuitton and marc by marc? i think so!

10) RACHEL ZOE Metallic Brocade Strapless Dress ($209)
while i can't say i'm a huge fan of RZ spring 2012, this dress is adorable. it's simple, fun, the metallic details (which you can't really see) are a nice touch. i'm just hoping she steps it up in later seasons. c'mon rachel!

anthropologie favorites, february 2012.

so i've decided that for these first few blog posts, just to get into the habit of posting, i'm going to do a sort of "favorites of [website/store]," just so that my style can be shown, and also so that i'm not just wasting time wishing for beautiful clothing online.

the first will be my favorites from anthropologie. this store is.. ungodly. i love everything in it, even beyond the clothing, and i wish i had a house to furnish, and millions of dollars to spend here. for now, however, i'll just make a little wishlist.

1) Sans Collar Blazer ($98)
the reason i love this so much is because it's so basic.. but at the same time, completely modern. the cuffs, being three-quarter length, are extremely flattering on my short little arms, and i love that bit of grey. also, can i just say that maroon-ish colors have been driving me crazy lately? they're fabulous.
 2) Conductor Stripe Roll-Ups ($78)
i am a girl with bigger hips and thighs, and i think that these shorts just reflect my wishful thinking. while rationally i realize that these would look lovely on some of my thinner and longer girlfriends, i think that the cut would work well on a lot of body types. i cannot wear shorts with a two inch inseam. no way, no how. these are adorable and classy.
 3) Not Your Boyfriend's Cardigan ($118)
okay. one of the first things that you should know about me is that i absolutely love cardigans. oversized, shrunken, piddly, old, new, whatever. i love them. this one is just perfect, though. with ribbed sleeves (my favorite on sweaters), a textured body, and that adorable red piping, my heart is melting. yes, please!
4) Hand-Crocheted Mini-Dress ($288)
this dress is perfection. i would wear it under, over, and with everything i own. i'm actually picturing it with an american apparel body suit underneath of it, a simple one, maybe tights (depending on the season), and adorable flats or simple heels. absolute. perfection.

oh! and it reminds me of one of my favorite bloggers! you should go check out her blog, because it's amazingly inspirational!

5) Dried Larkspur Skirt ($118)
i'm a skirt girl. i love a flouncy, girly, floral-ish skirt that i can feel a little magical in. i think that this one does its job. also, i'm in love with nudes mixed with other neutrals. i think it is one of THE classiest ways to dress, and i can't wait to start doing it more often in the spring. i would pair this with a fitted tank, probably just a solid chocolate brown, and a pair of strappy nude heels and call it an outfit. with accessories, of course.
6) Persian Violet Pullover ($98)
i know this may seem too simple to put into a "favorites" category, but i think it is simply beautiful. the detail at the bottom is fantastic, and i adore the grey. lovely!

7) J Brand Coated Denim Leggings ($202)
now, like i said earlier, i have bigger hips and thighs than your average girl of five foot three inches, but i love a structured pair of skinnies as much as the next girl. the reasons i love these so much are exactly the reasons why i personally cannot wear them. the first is the color. this lovely mauve is eye-catching and gorgeous (but would cause people to look at my hips, not my waist). the second is that they are coated denim. this adds a silky shine to the pants that regular denim doesn't have (and shouldn't, if you have a body like mine). the lesson here is: while the piece is beautiful, leave it to the smaller, twig-like girls.

oh! but don't you think that the sweater just before this would look lovely with these skinnies? yum.

8) Precocious Flatforms - Solid ($128)
if i could have these in every color, i would. maybe i can save for a pair for summer? they're perfect for running around, because they add a few extra inches (important for a short girl like me), but no arch pain because of the lack of heel. oh, and that red is gorgeous!

9) Unconventional Oxfords - Tan ($398)
i am in love with oxfords. these multi-toned ones are beautiful! i think what really hooked me in was that stunning purple/mauve sole. yummy, right?

10) Leather Ribbon Satchel ($148)
last but not least, a nice little satchel with a giant pop of color! i struggle to find bags i would like to carry, as i'm not one of those girls that changes purses everyday. i want one bag that i won't get tired of for a few months. i think that this one would make the cut. it's not too big, but not too small. i absolutely looooooove satchels lately, my last four purses have been satchels, and i can't seem to find any bags i like that aren't! i love everything about the simplicity of this.

well, that's my wishlist for anthropologie! i know that i only listed ten pieces,
but really, there are many fabulous things on their website and in their stores. you can find
everything you could ever need [here].

the next posts i'll do will be in three parts, for a store that i looooove to drool over,
Nordstrom

that's all for now.
