third semester schedule.

so, a couple of weeks ago i went to enroll in my third semester classes. since i came into college undecided and only chose to major in photography this semester, i will technically still be taking freshman classes next year, even though i have enough hours to be a junior.. weird, right?

i thought it would be cool to put my schedule up so that if someone sees this and we have a class together, that would be fun - or if you've taken similar classes, you can give me some insight!

9-11 AM: Photography I
12-1:30 PM: Art History I - Prehistoric to Renaissance
2-3 PM: Literary Perspectives - Fathers & Sons

TUESDAY

12:30-2 PM: Intro to Philosophy

WEDNESDAY

it definitely won't be as easy to remember as this semester's schedule, but i'm super excited to start new classes! a couple of these classes will only be taught by their professors one last time in the fall, so i'm really happy that i could get into them :)

what does your next semester look like?

instagram - spring break edition!

i haven't updated my instagram posts on the blog in a long time! these are the photos from my spring break, and soon i'll update on the ones since then!

my photos:

josh took some photos, too!

my photos: 1. and 2. my little sister and i took our puppies on a walk at the beginning of spring break :) | 3. tiny road trip with josh back to the dorms to retrieve forgotten items and for his eye doctor's appointment | 4. super early-morning picture in the MCI airport before we got on the plane! | 5. layover in hotlanta! | 6. and 7. hanging out in downtown wilmington | 8. happy face photo after we went to the 6th street bridge and met some awesome OTH fans! | 9. and 10. a very cold beach experience.. it was beautiful nonetheless!

josh's photos: 1. and 2. seeing the sights in wilmington our first day there | 3. and 4. the hugest rite of passage for an OTH fan: dribbling a basketball across the 6th street bridge just like lucas does in the opening credits for each episode! (wanna see footage of it? [click here]) | 5. and 6. josh takes pretty pictures of the beach :) | 7. leaving wilmington :/ | 8. the plane coming in over NYC for our second layover.

i hope you like seeing the photos we each chose to take of our time in wilmington! if you ever have a chance to visit, it's a pretty awesome city, even if you're not a one tree hill fan ;)

march movie reviews.

here are the movies that josh and i have seen over the past month. there's quite a few, so stay with me, i have a lot to say.

Here Comes the Boom
this movie was one that we wanted to see in theaters but never got around to it.. and i really wish we would have. the storyline was much more compelling than i thought it would be, and honestly, that's all i needed to get reeled in. (that was a movie pun. did you notice? anyway..) kevin james has never been my favorite actor, but i liked him in this!

For a Good Time, Call...
i'm going to put this right out there: josh admitted to not liking this movie, even though i was laughing the entire time. i would definitely say this is much more of a girl movie, but some guys might enjoy it.. i dunno. i don't think the acting was particularly out of this world, and the storyline was subpar, but the jokes really got me. i would totally watch this again with my friends. :)

Bad Teacher
josh and i watched the unrated version of this, so i'm not sure what the other is like.. but i personally found it to be crude, in your face, and completely hilarious. something about cameron diaz dropping F bombs out of her perfectly red-lipped mouth made me want to pee my pants laughing. what can i say?

Catch Me If You Can
here in the jord-josh relationship, we are pretty huge leo fans.. i hadn't seen this, and josh suggested we watch it. it had sort of a "i love you, phillip morris" feel to it, minus the AIDS, because the entire time you're wondering how far he can push it until he gets caught. even though you know he's doing something wrong, you fall in love with his character. the relationship between frank jr. (leo) and carl (tom hanks) pushed this movie over the top. i loved it.

Dan In Real Life
this movie was sure to be a winner, simply because josh and i? we love steve. we love every movie we've ever seen him in, and that's really saying something! i don't have a ton to say about this one, but it was the perfect combination of romance and comedy. the plot twists in a way that you sort of see coming, but when it actually happens, you're all, "WHAT! NOOOO!" and then you laugh your ass of the rest of the film. perf.

Safe Haven
ooooookay. so. about this movie. we went to see it in theaters, and while, yes, it was fairly decent, it definitely didn't live up to the hype around it. i don't want to spoil it for anyone, but there's a stupid revelation at the end of the movie that ruined the entire thing for me. the rest of it, i thought was really suspenseful for a nicolas sparks movie, so i appreciated that.. but it just doesn't deserve the big two thumbs up.

Law Abiding Citizen
this is one of those films that makes you cringe.. in a good way? josh had already seen this one and kept insisting on me watching it, so we finally did. it was good, but some of the content was super graphic. for a girl who can't stand seeing scary movies, it really got to me, but if you love gore, it will be a tiny blip on your radar. once you get past the nasty parts, it's a really great, suspenseful (think of another word, jordan! geeeeze) story, and when you figure out what gerard butler's character is doing, it's pretty awesome. i would definitely recommend this to people who like... stuff like this?

Taken
we just watched this because i hadn't seen it.. the beginning of the movie paired very well with the enchiladas i was eating at the time, but let me put it this way: i'm glad i scarfed those down before his daughter got kidnapped, because from that point on, i was on the edge of my seat and literally frightened for that girl! that sounds corny, but i have always had this secret fear of being kidnapped or my family members being taken for ransom. so it really got to me. it's a great movie, but i don't think i really want to see the second one.. oh, and josh has a major man crush on liam neeson.

Wanderlust
to end the month, we decided on a comedy that i had wanted to see in theaters but never got around to. it's just this hilarious mash up of different odd things that happen to a couple. they decide to live with this group of "hippies," i suppose you would call them, although there's a random nudist thrown in there, too.. and all of the shenanigans (god, i hate that word) that happen to them! it's definitely a must-see for those of you out there who love to laugh at stupid things and other people's misfortune!

those are the movies we watched this month! hope you enjoyed my little mini reviews, and that maybe you'll want to see one of these, now!

model appreciation - lindsey wixson.

today in class my teacher (a huge feminist, by the way) got all freaked out and was talking about how her daughters couldn't handle reading teen vogue because of the unrealistic examples of women's bodies and looks in general. i just wanna get this out there: WHAT a load of crap. literally everyone in the world knows what their bodies can look like and what they can't. me, for example: i am never going to be a 5 foot, 9 inch model who weighs 100 pounds. never.

what i don't understand is that these people who are so critical of the images shown in magazines like this (fashion magazines, of all things) can't understand that it is hugely about looks. if a photo is supposed to show a new design, it will be shown on the model's figure, as that is how the clothes are supposed to be shown. yes, there are some designers who go toward plus-size and regular ladies, but the biggest part of designer fashion houses is exclusivity.

on that note, i love those models who's "flaws" are what made them famous. for example, lindsey wixson, with her gap between her two front teeth. a model who was born only 3 days before me, in the same year, who is also from my home state, kansas. she holds a special place in my mind because so many girls really could obtain the level of success that she has - perhaps not in modeling - but in whatever field they are talented in. she gives me hope that someday it won't matter that i came from kansas and i'm a "small-town girl," but instead that my talent will shine through.

here are some photos of the lovely lindsey wixson, in all of her beauty, talent, and realness.

please remember that these models are people, too. just because their beauty and bodies are shown as unattainable, doesn't make them lesser humans. these girls love the same thing i do, fashion, photography, beauty.. they cannot be faulted for taking advantage of the natural talents and looks that they were born with.
